Artificial study as was done in a lab setting so possibly p’s showed demand characteristics.
Limited application as all p’s were white American males
Types of conformity
Internalisation - public and private change of beliefs
Identification- change of public opinions as we value group
Compliance - go along with group values (superficial)
What are the two explanations for conformity
Information social influence - when a person conforms to anther belief as they view them as correct
Normative social influence - when a person conforms as they want to be perceived as normal
