Female prisoners vs male prisoners- recidivism
Female prisoners are less likely to have had a history of imprisonment than male prisoners. In 2012, 35% of female adult prisoners had never been to gaol before, compared to 26% of adult male prisoners.

The incarceration rate for women in NSW is 14 times lower than for men.
Transgender cyber bullying
Many transgender people experience high levels of cyber bullying + online harassment over technology + social media, with 1 in 3 children cyber bullied being transgender.
Gender centre
The Gender Centre website allows rural trans a “wide range of services to transgender + gender diverse people, their partners, families + friends in NSW.” Support includes: counselling, accommodation etc.

The ratio among Australians starting their courses is disproportionate, with females now comprising more than 60% of the total.

The way transgender students are treated has a significant impact on their education. A 2014 survey by beyondblue shows that when teachers use appropriate language (correct pronouns and non-discriminatory) the % of transgender children who drop out of school falls from 22% to 6%.

Even though trans people represent approx less than 5% of the population, an Inner City crisis housing centre estimates that 12% of their clients in the last year are trans.

Reluctance + fear of seeking care – negative prejudice from society + lack of adequate social support can increase the risk of suicide (87.4% of trans people have experienced at least one form of humiliation or discrimination – verbal/physical abuse)

Hormonal procedures may not be covered by insurance as there are risks associated with unsupervised hormonal treatments (73.1% trans people were found in a survey across Australia, to have used hormone treatment for gender-related reasons)
