Social construction of criminality Flashcards
Social construction of criminality
Something that has been made/defined. Each society can change the law depending on what happened there.
Changes due to culture
Laws can change between each culture usually due to religion, having differ t norms and values, tradition, sexism and public opinion.
Laws changing over time
The laws in the society can easily change their laws over time due to what that society thinks is acceptable at that time. Campaigns usually change this opinion by campaigning in change in policy or change in law.
Laws applied differently due to circumstances
Not everyone’s case is treated the same as each case is different due circumstances. Typifications, homicide (dismissed responsibility, loss of control and automatism) and age of criminal responsibility is taken into consideration during the case.
