Who meets high risk criteria for SMR (adult)
A
- > 65
- Axial load injury
- Meets trauma criteria for MOI

When is SMR required (adult)
A
- Altered
- not cooperative/limited eval
- Abnormal spinal exam (deformity, tenderness)
- Abnormal sensory or motor exam

When to consider less invasive SMR (adult)
A
- simple rear end MVC, other low energy injury
- neck/back pain but ambulatory

When is full SMR required (pediatric)
A
- > 2 years old and non-ambulatory
- numbness or tingling in extremities
- pain or decreased movement in neck
- Axial load injury
- Altered
- not cooperative/limited eval

When is less invasive SMR considered (pediatric)
A
- predisposed condition:
- spinal deformity, arthritis, easily break bones, etc.
