What can you offer for smoking cessation?
Nicotine Replacement Therapies
- Skin patches
- Gum
- Tablets and lozenges
- Inhalators
- Nasal sprays
What would you recommend for different people?
Skin patches are slow release, so if cravings are the problem the patient may need something to cope with that
- Inhalator (something for patient to hold)
- Gum/lozenges (if patients miss feeling of a cig in their
mouth)
- Sprays (quick relief)
What is available on prescription?
- Champix (varenicline)

Would you recommend an E Cigarette?
- Still not been long enough to know the long term effects of E cigarettes so it is a risk to use them
- If you feel it may work for you, you can try it but it’s not available here in the pharmacy or from the doctor you would have to purchase one
If person is not interested in quitting yet, what should I do?
Accept that this is absolutely fine, but provide something in case they change their mind
