- Usually confined to upper airways
- Blistering, Mucosal edema, vascular congestion, epithelial sloughing, thick secretions, and acute upper airway obstruction

- Inflammation of tracheobronchial tree, bronchospasm, excessive bronchial secretions and mucous plugging, decreased mucosal ciliary transport, and atelectasis

Levels of CO-poisoning
A
0-10 - No symptoms
10-20 - Headache, dilation of blood vessels
20-30 - Throbbing headache, vomiting, impaired judgement
30-50 - possible syncope. increased RR and HR
50-60 - Coma, convulsions, Cheyne-stoke breathing
60-70 - Possible death
70-80 - Cardiopulmonary failure and death
