Q

What is the purpose of Diffuse

A

General overview of the eye health. Observe extent of corneal scar, abnormalities, infiltration, neovascularization, and corneal edema (indicated by: hazy, grey, granular appearance of cornea).

Q

What is the purpose of Direct - Optic Section

A

Check for abn. in corneal contour and corneal layers. To assess tear layer and observe depth of foreign bodies/opacities in cornea. Examine the crystalline lens and depth of the anterior chamber & it’s angle.

Q

What is the purpose of Direct-Conical Beam?

A

To localize a target on/in the cornea. Observe debris floating in the anterior chamber, and flare on cells in the aqueous.

Q

What is the purpose of Sclerotic Scatter?

A

To observe corneal clouding (edema). Edema will look patchy, greyish cloudy spot in the pupil area. Deep corneal scars/abn. Assess a C/L fit in situ (only if slit lamp can be decoupled).

What is the purpose of Tangential?

A

To observe the surface of the iris, floaters in the anterior chamber, and C/L fit if Px is light sensitive. View fleischers ring under cobalt blue with fluorescein.
