What is Rem sleep?
It is a period of sleep where your eyes move rapidly for short bursts of time
What is NREM sleep?
It is the opposite of REM sleep. In NREM sleep your eyes move slowly and your muscles are less relaxed
How are brain waves measured?
Brainwaves are measured during sleep using an EEG (electroencephalogram) by electrodes which are placed on the head to record the brain activity
What is lucid dreaming?
Is when a person is aware they are dreaming and are ab,e to control their dreams

It is known as the manifest content

Is the latent content
What did Frued believe that dreams are?
Expressing our unconscious mind, typically sexual and aggressive in nature

Flying, falling, swimming being attacked and being nude

Is dreaming of unacceptable wishes, desires and fantasies in order to reduce anxiety levels

Is that dreams have a purpose and help solve problems.

Is that dreams are meaningless and should not be subjected to interpretation

Yes voluntary muscles are relaxed
Are muscles relaxed in NREM sleep?
Voluntary muscles are less relaxed than in REM sleep
