disgrace; dishonor; public contempt.

contrivance
something contrived; a device, especially a mechanical one.

sagacity
quality of being wise or having good judgment
An example of sagacity is when a person refuses to get in the car with someone who has been drinking.
paramour

An example of paramour is the girlfriend of a married man.
