This skier will ski Ohio, Colorado, Vermont, New York, West Virginia, anywhere. They need a ski that can handle all of the conditions any of these ski areas have to offer. Keep in mind this ski is NOT a powder specific ski. This category fits the “one ski quiver” that is desired by most of our customer. When you arrive at this category, you have entered the world of specific. These skis are designed with soft snow in mind. Could you ski a 100mm waisted ski in Ohio? Of course you could, but the are designed to be used specifically out west in the big mountain arena. These wide skis are sold daily in our shop, to people who live in Ohio. They have bought in to our progressive theory and are ready to shred the mountain with less work.
What is a side cut?
The sidecut, or turning radius of the ski determines what kind of turn shape a ski will “naturally” make. So, tip the ski on the edge and ride the edge all the way through the turn and that would be the “natural” turn radius of the ski.
What kind of turns will a 10m-14m side cut make?
short turns, all groomers, not super versatile
What kind of turns will a 15m-18m side cut make?
variety of turns, still quick without being grabby, great for Midwest skiers who travel occasionally
What kind of turns will a 19m-23m side cut make?
mostly long higher speed turns, usually these skis are the true all-mountain performers, GREAT in soft snow, but still rips the groomers.
