What does the follicle size for oily skin look like?
Large throughout the whole face.
What does the follicle size for dry skin look like?
Very small, not noticeable.
What does the follicle size for normal skin look like?
Small, noticeable.
What does the follicle size for combination skin look like?
Small, and large sizes all over face
Describe oily skin.
Excessive sebum production, acne/blemish prone.
Describe dry skin.
Lack of sebum, may feel tight.
Describe normal skin.
Water and oil are balanced on skins surface.
Describe dehydrated skin.
Lacks WATER! causes by drinking caffeine or alcohol, aging, medications, or even the environment.
What is hyperpigmentation?
Overproduction of melanin due to UV exposure, hormones.
Describe erythema.
Redness caused by influmation.
What is telangiectasia?
Visible broken or distended capillaries.
Is sensitive skin a condition or a skin type?
CONDITION
what is Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation?
Occurs from a surface injury such as acne, insect bite, ingrown hairs.
What are OPEN comedones?
aka blackheads, which are clogged pores caused by buildup and debris.
What are CLOSED comedones?
aka whiteheads, which are not exposed to oxygen… they are trapped by dead skin cells and need to be exfoliated and extracted.
What is asphyxiated skin?
Caused by a lack of oxygen and is usually caused by smoking… the skin looks dull or lifeless (yellow or grey in color)
What is acne?
Sebaceous breakouts from hormonal changes or external factors.
What is Milia?
Hardened, pearl-like collections of oil and dead skin cells found under the skin.
Describe melasma.
A form of hyperpigmentation
