Lesions
Structural hanger in the tissues usually from damages injuries
Primary Lesions
the first stage of development; flat and no noticeable skin color change , elevated
Bulla
large blister with watery fluid; secondary burns
Cyst & Tubercle
closed sac that has pus or fluids above or below the skin, needs medical attention
Macule
flat spot or discoloration on the skin, looks like a freckle
Nodule
solid bump, needs medical attention; swollen lymph node
Papule
small elevation on the skin, no fluid but you may see pus; found in acne or warts
Pustule
raised/inflamed papule with a white or yellow center that has pus at the top; found in acne
Tumor
unusual mass that has different sizes, shapes and colors, not always cancer but usually is cancer
Vesicle
small blister with clear fluid either within or beneath the epidermis, usually needs medical attention if you can’t find the cause or can’t be healed by regular products; poison ivy
Wheal
Itchy or swollen can be caused by a blow, scratch or bug bite. usually heals on its own but if it doesn’t heal in more than 3 days, refer a physician; hives or mosquito bite
Secondary skin lesion
piles of material on the skin like a crust or scab
Crust
dead cells formed form a wound or blemish from built up sebum and pus; scab or sore
Excoriation
skin sore from scratching or scraping; nail cuticle damage from excessive nail biting
Fissure
crack in the skin forms in the dermis; chapped hands, lips or feet
