Mole/benign Nevus
Proliferation of melanocytes, round or oval
Can change into melanoma
Actinic keratosis
Flat, round or irregular lesion covered by dry scale on sun exposed skin
Precancerous, can lead to squamous cell carcinoma
Basal cell carcinoma
Slow growing tumor
Raised patch with ivory appearance
Indented center
Squamous cell carcinoma
Poorly defined margins
Flat red area, ulcer, nodule
Quick growing
Can metastasize to lymph nodes, lungs, bone, brain
Malignant melanoma
Uneven edges, irregular, mixed black/blue/red, larger than 6 mm, elevated
Can metastasize to lymph nodes, brain, liver,lung, bone.
Kaposi’s sarcoma
Endothelial cell lesion with red/dark purple or blue macules
Common on LEs
Itching/pain
