What is cancer?
As the body’s cells die, new cells are made to replace them. In
a healthy person, just the right number of new cells are formed using mitosis. Damage to the DNA in a cell can cause the normal regulatory processes in cell division to be ignored or overridden. This can result in uncontrolled cell division, a condition we call cancer.
What causes skin cancer?
The main cause of skin cancer is exposure to the sun.
Can you survive from skin cancer?
The key to curing skin cancer is early detection. If you
see a new lump or spot, or a changing freckle or mole, see a doctor promptly. 95 per cent of patients who have cancer and they are detected quickly survive.
