Seborrheic Dermatitis

A

Red, inflammed oily and itchy and scarlet skin; cradle cap, areas rich with oil producing glands. Long term and can cause social trauma. Not contagious. Dandruff.

Antifungal creams and Salicylic Acid, Acne med can help.

Skin Sensitivity Test (Step 7) Consultation) and Goal

A
  1. Cleanse with ultra gentle cleanser
  2. Tone with Calming Facial Toner
    3.using gloves, apply 8% Mandelic Serum starting in the bottom right side of their face
  3. For mild non inflamed, use Vit A serum instead
  4. If a client feels 2 or less then proceed with serum tx
    6.if above 2 for inflamed or combo try other cheek with 5%
  5. If higher than 2 remove
  6. Once proper serum is found apply to entire face and ask if the tingling is the same
  7. If no serum works; send them home with week one and two without the serum
  8. In 2 weeks, the acne med should decrease sensitivity and skin will tolerate more
    Goal is to acclimate to Mandelic Serum

A
  1. Not an overnight process.3-4 months unless moderate to severe non inflamed (5-6)
    2.Even if they still break out, the product is working. New breakouts began three months ago as microcomodones.
  2. Home care compliance is Number 1 to getting and staying clear. Toothbrush analogy.
  3. Be up front that they may experience peeling or dry skin and to contact you when and if this occurs so that you can adjust their routine
