skin Flashcards
SKIN
What is the differences between thin and thick skin?
- Thick skin contains 5 layers but thin contain 4layers.( thin skin does not have stratum lucidum(
- Thin skin have hair follicles.
- Stratum corneum of thin skin is thinner than thick one.
- Thin skin is less resistible to mechanical stress.
Skin epithelium is called epidermis and the underlying layer ,which is a connective tissue, is called dermis.
The connective tissue papillae is also present.
Stratum corneum and hair are soft keratin.
Wolf asked some questions about the stratum spinosum that I have explained all in detail on week 3 and just write down his question:
Most important cell junctional complex between the cells: desmosome
Name of coupling protein :desmoglein(wolf only say this) and desmocollin
Part of the cytoskeleton to
where it is indirectly attach? intermediate filament
Name of intermediate filaments in epithelial cells? cytokeratin filament (exception: endothelial cell in which the intermediate filament is called vimentim)
Importance of these intermediate filaments(the fact that different cells have different filaments, clinically: it is important because when a cell transform to malignant one and gives metastases to other organs then sometimes the tissue is transformed so much morphologically that it is impossible to detect the origin of it. But by a technique we can selectively mark the intermediate filament then we can find the origin of the metastable cell is?
