Fowler’s-
Fowler’s- head of bed elevated to 45 to 60 degrees, promotes cardiac and respiratory function because it provides space in the thoracic cavity. Good position for eating, conversation, and urinary/intestinal elimination.

Supine- flat on back with head and shoulders slightly elevated, for bed rest and sleeping.

Prone- on stomach with head turned. Helps prevent flexion contractures of the hips and knees

Lateral-
Lateral- side lying, this is a good alternative for supine. Patients may want to sleep in this position.

Sim’s- on stomach with arm behind body upper leg flexed with pillow under it.
- Explain how to prevent foot drop.
-putting something behind the foot or elevating (in stomach positions) to make the foot dorsiflex.
Important foot care to remember.
- do not cut the nails of patients with diabetes or circulatory problems. Only file them.
- Do not moisturize between the toes of people with peripheral artery disease.
