- Less decision making
- Low level of concentration needed to execute to a high standard

- Lots of information to process
- High levels of decision making
- High levels of concentration needed to execute to a high standard
what are the environmental skill classifications?
open and closed
what is an open skill?
a skill that is affected by the environment and is predominantly perceptual, externally paced
what is a closed skill?
A skill not affected by the environment, internally paced
what are the pacing skill classifications?
Self paced and externally paced
what is a self paced skill?
The performer determines when the movement skill starts
what is a externally paced skill?
The control of the skill is not determined by the performer
what are the muscular skill classifications?
Gross and fine
what is a gross skill?
Large muscular movements where there is little concern for precision
what is a fine skill?
More intricate movements, with the use of small muscle groups
what is a discrete skill?
are brief, well-defined actions that have a clear beginning and end. They are single, specific skills, which make up the actions involved in a variety of sports such as hitting and throwing.
what is a serial skill?
a group of discrete skills strung together to make a new and complex movement.
what is a continuous skill?
have no obvious beginning or end. The end of one cycle of movements is the beginning of the next, and the skill is repeated like a cycle. These skills could be stopped at any moment during the performance of the skil
