What is the definition of skill?
A learned action or behaviour, with the intention of bringing about pre-determined results, with maximum certainty and minimum outlay of time and energy.
What is the definition of ability?
An inherited, stable trait that determines an individual’s potential to learn or acquire a skill.

Behaviour, learned, pre-determined, minimum energy.
Key words about ability:
Inherited, born with, trait, potential.
Basic skills:
Usually simple things like throwing and catching a ball.
Complex skills:
§Difficult to learn, high concentration, complicated.
Open skills:
Affected by the environment, external stimuli.
Closed skills:
Not affected by the environment or external stimuli e.g. opposition.
Self paced skill:
Initiated and performed at a time to suit the performer.
Externally paced skill:
Initiated an performed in response to a stimulus.
Gross movement:
Involves large, imprecise body movements.
Fine movement:
Requires precision, small body movements.
