Cells that lies within the substance of fully formed bone
Epiphysis
The end of a long bone
Diaphysis
The shaft or central part of a long bone
Compact bone
Cortical bone, dense bone which bone is solidly filled with organic ground substance and leaving only tiny spaces that contain osteocytes
Cancellous bone
Spongy, found at the ends of long bones ; ribs, skull, and vertebral spinal
