What are the steps for arch padmasana (half lotus pose)?

A

Starting seated on the mat. Taking right leg above the left leg, hold the foot from underneath as if receiving the foot, externally rotating the leg, bringing it back in close to the naval. No need to push or pull the knee toward the floor, can use a yoga block, back will automatically straighten. Rest hands palms side up on both sides of the knees.

Alternative: starting with legs together and straight, fold the left leg under the right leg, pick up the right foot and receive it and bring it in line with the navel

How do you do padmasana/lotus pose?

A

Fold right foot and bringing your heel close to the navel and the left leg over top the heel close to the navel. Both hands rest close to the kneees

Coming onto your knees, heels together or use props and rest hips right over cushion, knees together and heels together

A

You sit bringing your knees together in front and your feet behind you to line up beside your hips. You can increase the gap between the knees for less intensity.
