A

Soil texture is the proportion of different sizes of soil particles.

Physical property.
It refers to the size and distribution of soil particles, and is most influenced by mineral content.

Eg. Fine particles - Clay - Compacts easily.

Their are various soils, but all of them are made up of some proportion of sand, silt and clay.

What is the difference between them?

A

Sand has coarse particles, with diameter ranging from 0.05-2mm
It feels rough and gritty.

Clay has fine particles, with diameter less then 0.002mm
It feels sticky and plastic like.

Silt is medium particles, with diameter of 0.002-0.05mm
It feels smooth and silky.

A

It refers to the way soil particles are put together. Simply shape of soil.

Soil binds with organic material to form various shapes.
