What is a counterfort wall?
It’s like a T–type cantilevered wall except with triangular shaped cross walls to stiffen the vertical slab and add weight to the base (spaced at intervals half the wall height)
When do you use and L – type cantilevered wall?
When you are a budding a property line or other obstruction
What is a retaining walls batter?
The backward sloping face of the wall as it rises
What is a deadman?
A timber, stone, or concrete mass buried in the ground as an anchor for a retaining wall
What is behind the brick veneer in a brick veneer retaining wall?

What is a gravity wall? What is its height limit?
A reinforced concrete retaining wall that resists overturning and sliding by the shear weight and volume of its mass. Height limit: 10 feet
