Sinus Arrhythmias Flashcards
Describe the R-R, P-wave, QRS, and Rate of a Normal Sinus Rhythm?
R-R- regular
QRS- Narrow
P- wave - upright
Rate 60-100 bpm
How does a normal sinus rhythm differ from a sinus tachycardia?
Sinus Tachy rate is is above 100 bpm but less than 160 bpm
What would be a narrow QRS?
<0.12 secs or 3 boxes
How does sinus bradycardia differ from a sinus tachy or NSR?
The rate is less than 60 but greater than 40 bpm
What is a common cause of S. Brady.
Acute inferior wall MI the RV is often involved
What do you do to tx S. Brady.?
Atropine or pacemaker
Describe the R-R, P-wave, QRS, PR interval, and Rate of Sinus Arrhythmia?
R-R- irregular QRS- Narrow P- wave - upright Rate <100 bpm PR Interval- fixed
What happens on inspiration in a sinus arrhythmia?
SA fires faster on inspiration
What is a sinus node dysfunction?
SA cant generate sufficient HR
What age is sinus dysfunction common in ?
> 70 yrs old
What types of meds are common in causing reversible sinus dysfunction?
Beta-blockers
Ca Channel Blockers
Digoxin
What is sinus arrest?
Failure of the SA node to fire with a pause that lasts 2 sec to 2 mins
How does a sinus arrest differ from a sinus block?
A Sinus block occurs at resumes at its regular interval a sinus arrest resumes at a random interval.
What happens to the p-wave in a junctional escape rhythm?
The p-wave is displaced or absent
