A

Self reported signs (subjective)
-Amenorrhea (no period)
-Nausea & Vomiting
-urinary frequency
-Breast tenderness
Since these signs are self reported it does not mean that the client is for sure pregnant.

Probable signs of pregnancy

A

-Goodell’s sign- softening of the cervix
-Chadwick’s sign- Purple bluish discoloration in the birth canal
-Hegars sign- Softening of the uterus segment
- positive pregnancy HCG test (is not always a positive sign) can mean gestational traphoblestic disease.

-Fetal Heart rate heard by Doppler device (1 Nclex) 10-12 weeeks
-Ultrasound (Visualization of the fetus)
-fetal movement (palpated or observed by primary care provider)

A

-> to calculate Expected DOB
-Ask client first the last menstrual period - 3 months + 7 days=expected delievery
-> Labor induction or diagnosing preterm labor.

Example first day of last period April 4 - 3 + 7 = January 8 expected delivery.
