Single File Instrinmentation Flashcards
What are advantages of single file end o ? And its one dis advantage
Require a minimum or no glide path and only a single file for complete instrumentation for majority of root canals, so; Reducing instrument fatigue,
- Reduce the working time ,
- lower cross contamination between patients,
- It will save both time and cost.
- Every file is not used for further canals and not requires thermal sterilization in autoclave, so it will be not exposed to other stresses. stressesit reduces
However, root canal shaping with only one file submit the instruments to a great deal of torsional and flexural stress
What are single file systems classified into? And their tips
clockwise rotary motion (F360 , F6 Sky Taper and OneShape )
reciprocation working motion (Reciproc and WaveOne ) .
All single-file instruments have a non-cutting tip .
Endodontic machine-assisted instrumentation can be classified into five groups according to the instrumentation kinematics as follows:
o rotary motion,
o rotational reciprocating motion,
o vertical vibration plus rotational reciprocating motion,
o vertical vibration
o rotary motion plus rotational reciprocating motion (adaptive).
Define reciprocation and its types.
RECIPROCATION : It is defined as any repetitive back and forth motion that has been clinically utilized.
( A ) complete reciprocation with vertical oscillations (Racer and Self-Adjusting File),
( B ) complete reciprocation with horizontal rotational oscillations (Giromatic, Intra-Endo 3 LD, Dynatrak system, M4 Safety Handpiece, Endo-Gripper, NSK TEP-E10 R, Endo-Eze AET system, Tilos system, and Endo-Express SafeSider),
( C ) complete reciprocation with combined oscillations (Canal Finder System, Excalibur, Canal-Leader 2000, Endolift, Endoplaner, and EndoPulse system),
( D ) partial reciprocation with rotational effect (ATR Teknica, WaveOne, WaveOne Gold, and Reciproc), and
( E ) hybrid reciprocation (TF Adaptive/Elements motor).
Wave one types? In size and length
- Small (yellow 21/06),
- Primary (red 25/08),
- Large (black 40/08).
- 1-the file with the smallest size i.e. of 21 mm is used in the fine canals, mostly in anterior regions and having a continuous taper of 6 percent with in it.
- The second file i.e. of 25 mm is most commonly used in majority of the canals with a taper of 8 percent that gradually reduces towards the coronal portion of the canal system.
- The third file is of 31 mm, this file is used in larger canals with a taper of 8 percent at the apical region, that also reduces towards the coronal portion of the canal.
The advantages of wave one file system are as follows
- It has improved flexibility
- Efficient efficiency
- Conservation of remaining dentine at the coronal portion of the tooth.
- Safe to use in the curved canals
Reciprocal types? What are they made of? And system comprises of what?
- R 25,0.25
- R 40,0.6 AND
- R 50, 0.5
This instruments of this system is also comprised of M wire, that provide adequate strength to the instruments along with greater flexibility and also provide resistance to cyclic fatigue.
This reciproc system comprises of:
- s shape cross section.
- regressive taper.
- continuous taper which is present at first 3 mm of the working instrument and after than decreasing taper towards the shaft side.
Reciprocal cutting motion decided into? And what are its advantages?
This system works on cutting motion, when it moves in clock wise direction, it results in cutting of the dentine and when the instrument is moved in counter clock wise direction the instrument gets disengaged form the cutting side
The prime advantages of the reciproc system are as follows
- Less time consuming
- Less clinical steps
- Less chances of cross contamination from the patient.
- Maintain centering ability.
One shape, made of? Cutting motion and tip?
- The instruments of one shape is made up of austenite 55-NiTi alloy, that provides the system adequate strength and flexibility and better adaptability.
- This system comprises of a single instrument that is having tip size of 25 and a taper of 0.06 which is constant , used in a full clockwise rotation.
- The instrument comprises of different cross sectional design of the entire working part,It has a non-cutting safety tip
Advantages of one shape system are as follows
- Only one file is used for cleaning and shaping of the canal system.
- Very less time consuming, approximately 4 times much faster than the conventional rotary system.
- Minimal fatigue among the instrument is seen.
- System shows anti breakage control.
Talk a boat single file system in relation to curvature, speed, preparation, controversy and which type is better for S shaped canals?
- Single-file systems maintain well the original canal curvature, even of severely curved canals, and are safe to use.
- Single-file systems are faster than full-sequence rotary NiTi instruments.
- Due to the faster preparation time with single-file systems, special measures to improve canal cleanliness and disinfection (e.g., passive ultrasonic activation of irrigants, longer contact time) may be required.
- All single-file systems, except Reciproc, require a glide path preparation.
- Currently, controversy exists whether the use of reciprocating single-file systems is associated with increased risk of apical debris extrusion and dentinal damages (cracks).
- For complex canal anatomy such as S-shaped canals, rotary single-file systems with less taper seem to be better than reciprocating single-file systems.
