Sin Cos Tan Flashcards
CAH
Cos = Adjacent / Hypotenuse
SOH
Sine = Opposite / adjacent
TOA
Tan = Opposite / Adjacent
Hypotenuse
The longest side of a right triangle, opposite the right angle.
Fundamental Counting Principle
The Fundamental Counting Principle (often called the Multiplication Rule) is a way of finding how many possibilities can exist when combining choices, objects, or results. This is done by multiplying each total choice count from each group being combined.
LCM
The smallest number that two or more numbers can divide into evenly. To find the LCM, you can use the prime factorization method or list the multiples of each number.
Mean
Mean = sum of terms / number of terms
Median
The median is the middle value in a set of data. First, organize and order the data from smallest to largest. To find the midpoint value, divide the number of observations by two. If there is an odd number of observations, round that number up, and the value in that position is the median.
Irrational Number
An irrational number is a real number that cannot be expressed as a ratio of integers; for example, √2 is an irrational number. We cannot express any irrational number in the form of a ratio, such as p/q, where p and q are integers, q≠0.
Distance Formula
d = sqrt. {(x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2}
Reciprocal
A mathematical expression or function so related to another that their product is one; the quantity obtained by dividing the number one by a given quantity.
Slope
m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
Midpoint
(mx,my) = (x1+x2/2, y1+y2/2)
Quadratic Formula
x= -b + or - Sqr. (b^2-4ac) / 2a
Standard Form
y = ax^2+bx+c
