What is Relativism?
- The belief that there is no moral law
- Rules that say what is right and what is not and can vary depending on the situation
What is forgiveness?
- The act of pardoning someones offence to you
- overlooking someone’s faults
What is evangelism?
- spreading the good news also know as the gospel
- the sharing of the gospel and life of Jesus
What is salvation?
- The belief that through Jesus’ death and resurrection people can live forever with God.
What is sin?
- Acting against the will and laws of God
What is punishment?
- The consequences of a wrong action
- A penalty given by a person of authority to the person who committed a wrong doing
What is Eucharist?
- Means ‘thanksgiving’
- The name Catholics use to describe when the bread and wine become the body and blood of Jesus
What are the views on Absolute morality?
- morality is how people understand the diff between good and bad
- absolutism is the belief that some actions are always right or always wrong and doesn’t change. e.g abortion

- Catholics will campaign for people to be supported in pregnancies or encourage adoption to prevent people from having an abortion
What are views on Relative morality?
- The belief that what is right or wrong can change depending on the situation. e.g abortion is accepted if the pregnancy will put the mother’s life in danger
- “LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR”
- Humanists would campaign to keep current UK laws on abortion to make it legal for anyone that wants it
What are the views on crime and punishment?
- crime is the act of breaking the law
- punishment is a consequence of a wrong doing
- RETRIBUTION (punishment fit for the crime)
- DETERRENCE (punishment to put people off)
- REHABILITAION (punishment to make change them)

- people will campaign for prisons to have educational programs so people can gain qualifications and leave a better person
View on Jesus on forgiveness?
-Forgiveness is overlooking a persons faults and pardoning their wrong doing
- Jesus gave a parable of unmerciful servant to show the importance of forgiveness
- “Father forgive us as we forgive those who sin against us” the lord’s prayer given to disciples by Jesus
- catholics will live out Jesus’ teaching and forgive people so that God will also forgive them of their sins too.
Views of Forgiveness and punishment?
- For Christians, forgiveness and punishment can work together to ensure justice is served.
- punishment can reinforce what is right or wrong to help a person change themselves.
- Jesus spoke about God’s punishment to people in the afterlife. It is up to God to judge people and he will forgive those who are truly sorry for their actions.
- “i tell you seventy seven times”- Jesus in the Bible
- Catholics will live this out by showing forgiveness to people who wronged them.
Catholic leaders views on capital punishment?

- he was against it and said a dead person cannot atone their crime so everyone needs a chance
- “no place to reform a character except in this life”

-he was against it and said it is not justifiable and there is a chance the wrong person could be killed

- he was against it and said capital punishment should be avoided unless it is the only way to protect people
- “punishment ought not to go to the extreme of executing the offender except it’s absolutely necessary.
Catholic views FOR capital punishment?
- CP is the death penalty given to someone as a consequence of their wrong doings
- some Christians believe deterrance is the best way to punish somebody because it puts people off doing the crime, so capital punishment is used to punish some crimes
- The old testament teaches that capital punishment is permitted.

- Christians will try to change the law so serious crimes like murder is punished accordingly with the death punishment.

- Jesus came to reform sinners but you cannit reform a dead person. Jesus encouraged forgiveness and discouraged revenge.

- Catholics will try do all they can protect human life, so they will protest against the death penalty.
Humanist views on capital punishment?
- they don’t believe in God
- no court system can be sure to give correct decisions to whether or not someone is guilty
- people get wrongfully convicted and sentenced
- innocent people can be released from prison but they cant be brought back to life
- Many criminals don’t expect to be caught and therfore are not deterred

- the christian belief that through Jesus’ death and resurrection, people can live forever with God.
-Catholics believe that Jesus saved humans from the consequence of sin. - Jesus was sent to breech the gap sin caused in the relationship between us and God.
