Simple Harmonic Motion Flashcards
1
Q
Exam question: why does applying a force to an object travelling in simple harmonic motion when it reaches the centre of oscillation moving in one direction lead to high amplitude oscillations? (2 marks)
A
Mark 1: Applied frequency = Natural frequency
Mark 2: An object will oscillate at its maximum frequency when resonance occurs which is when applied frequency is equal to the natural frequency and the natural frequency is a function e.g length amongst other things.
