Simon first comes into contact with the Lord of the flies when he starts to hallucinate and the head of the dead pig speaks to him. “Fancy thinking the Beast was something you could hunt and kill. You knew didn’t you?”. Simon now understands the beast is not an external force but rather the savagery hidden in mankind. the head also says the other boys will have “fun” and mentions a circle foreshadowing the death of Simon by the boys surrounding him.helps use appreciate the text as it reveals that beast is actually mankind

Simons death is a sacrifice painting him as a jesus like figure. it is beautiful as when the boys realise what they’ve done they run leaving Simons body to be taken by the sea. he is one with the earth
