contraindications for these procedures

A

Absolute

  • unstable fractures
  • manifestations of neurological symptoms brought on by treatment positioning
  • exacerbation of potentially life-threatening symptomatology

Relative

  • treatment cant be tolerated well
  • comorbidities that place the patient at risk for fracture (osteoporosis/malignancy)
  • moderate-severe to join instability
  • spinal stenosis/nerve root impingement where positioning could exacerbate the condition

Where is the OA tenderpoint located

A

this is how you assess for OA still procedure

Located at the junction of

  • origin of rectus capitis posterior major
  • lateral margin of the semispinalis capitis
  • medial margin of the Splenius capitis

very closely related to the PC2-occiput CS tender point (approx 1cm from inion on both sides)

- head and neck fully flexed to the cervicothoracic junction

Diagnosis/dysfunction= side of rotation where there is greatest freedom of motion
