Celebrated to commemorate the birth, enlightenment and death (parinirvana)
mostly Buddhist communities living in Sikkim celebrates it
on full moon of tibetan lunar month called Saga Dawa or Month of Merits (may-june)
Auspicious day for Tibetan community
follow three teaching of Buddhism : generosity (dama) , morality (sila) and mediation or good feelings (bhavana)
Lasoong Festival
Sikkimese New Year
celebrated all across the Sikkim in December
celebration of harvest season by farmers and other occupational communities (As major occupation of Sikkim is agriculture )
Traditionaly considered as festival of Bhutia trbes but nowadays Lepchas also celebrates
Unique point : drink locally brewed wine called chhaang
cham dance and black hat dance at monasteries
