Signals Flashcards
flashing red light
you must come to a complete stop. May go only when road is clear and have the right of way. (same meaning as a stop sign)
flashing yellow light
may go ahead but proceed with caution
red arrow
cannot make movement shown by arrow. may be shown alone or with another signal.
- unless entering intersection to make movement allowed by another signal, drivers facing red arrow must stop
yellow arrow
the signal is going to change to red and warns you to clear the intersection
flashing yellow arrow
you must yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians.
- may complete the turn when it is safe to do so
green arrow
you may go in the direction shown but yield to pedestrians, bicycles and traffic already in intersection.
- when green turn arrow is showing, the turn is protected from other traffic
red light
STOP.
- stop your vehicle behind crosswalk or stop line
- if no stop line or crosswalk, stop before entering intersection
yellow light
CAUTION.
- a warning that the light will be turning red
- if not entered intersection, you must stop
- if entered intersection, continue moving and clear it safely
green light
GO.
- proceed through intersection in direction indicated by signal if road is clear
- make sure to look RIGHT and LEFT for oncoming traffic
