Rule 10 states
All signals must be complied with unless?
It is likely to lead to danger or in the case of a fixed signal displaying a route which has been obviously incorrectly set.
What do 3 position colour light signals indicate
- Permitted Speed and give advance info about the next signal ahead

Home Signal- is provided to authorise entry into a station
Outer Home- A fixed signal located outside a Home signal
Shunting Signal- Controls the passage of trains and shunting movements within station limits.
Directing Signals-Used in station yards to guide trains to various platforms,sidings or positions to which the signals apply and to protect those lines.
Departure Signals-Controls the entry into a blocked section where movements are signalled in both directions.
Intermediate Signals-Provided for blocked sections to divide the line into shorter sections and to control entry of trains into these sections .
Define Station Limits
Includes all the lines within the outer most signal or points on each line controlled by the signaller or as defined on S&I diagrams.
What’s the purpose of a shunts limit board.
Marks the limits for shunting purposes in accordance with details on S&I diagrams or local instructions
What do you do at a All Trains Stop Board
All rail movements must Stop before the ATSB unless you have authority to pass.
LE may only request authority when the board is in line of sight.
All movements must approach the board being prepared to Stop.
