A

• Stop train.
• Don’t assume the signal is defective, but consider the track ahead could be occupied, obstructed or damaged.
• do not pass if line ahead is known or seen to be occupied until train ahead moves out of sight
• then consider if it is unsafe to proceed due to gradient, faults in train/defective isolated equipment, bad weather conditions, restricted visibility
• make call to rule 1 sec 3 number
• follow prompts and leave name, motor number and signal number
• driver then makes announcement about sudden trip, sounds a long whistle then proceeds ahead. Afterwards resetting the trip.
• proceed with extreme caution until whole train has passed next fixed signal.
