Sigma Tandem Factoids Flashcards
Outside of EPs, there is a bunch of facts and info on all things tandem.
Normal drogue fall terminal velocity is?
120mph / 200kmh
Tandem freefall terminal velocity is?
170mph / 270kmh
It takes _____ seconds to fall 1,000 feet at terminal velocity with a drogue
6 seconds
It takes _____ seconds to fall 1,000 feet at terminal velocity without a drogue?
4 seconds
If a drogue is deployed after 20 seconds of tandem freefall, how long will it take to slow the tandem down to 120 mph?
10 seconds or 2000’
A packed Sigma tandem system and student harness weighs approximately?
50 lbs
A packed Micro Sigma tandem system and student harness weighs approximately?
48 lbs
Maximum suspended weight for the Sigma or Micro Sigma Tandem system is?
500 lbs (gear + instructor + student)
How long should the trap door effect be?
3/4 of a second
What problem is caused by a kill line that is too short?
Longer than normal trap door effect.
What problem is caused by a kill line that is too long?
Higher snatch force, hard opening.
How can you tell if a drogue was cocked during packing?
Bridle scrunched and kill line window color.
What might happen if you deploy a which had not been cocked properly during packing?
Terminal velocity increases. Drogue should inflate within 6-8 seconds.
What happens if the screw in the drogue disc is missing or loose?
A loose screw could damage or snag the container-closing loop. A missing pin might cause the disk to become loose on the drogue bridle possibly causing a collapsed drogue in tow malfunction and bag lock.
What length should the exposed kill line be above the grommet at the base of the drogue envelope be?
1.5”-5” for a 54” drogue
