What is Drift?

What is Boom Angle?

What is Deflection?
Compressing the boom, slightly bending it when a load is applied to the crane without taking the slack out of pendants, hoist lines, or telescopic boom sections. The load will move away from the crane increasing radius and putting crew in danger.
What is Dynamic Loading?
Happens when dynamic motion of the load dramatically increases the amount of stress applied to the crane. This affects stability and structural integrity.
What is Dynamic Unloading?
Happens when the load is suddenly released. The sudden release can cause lose of backwards stability, structural damage, or collapse.
What is Side Loading?
Lifting a load without the boom tip completely centered over the top of the load or rapid swinging or stopping of the swing. Side loading can cause structural damage especially when using a jib.
