A

On the equipment or in the area of hoisting operations

35
Q

When directing a crane using voice signals the transmission must be through what kind of channel?

A

Dedicated

36
Q

According to ASME B30.23 in a suspended personnel platform without boom motion controls, management shall designate one person to perform what task?

A

37
Q

During the hoisting of a personnel platform and using a signalman who is located on the ground, who must the signalman keep continuous and post communication between?

A

Operator and Platform Occupants

38
Q

Where must a hand signal chart be posted according to ASME B30.23 while lifts personnel platform?

A

In the Platform

39
Q

According OSHA 1926.1431, when wind exceeds what speed must a qualified person be consulted?

A

20 mph

40
Q

What is Drift?

A

When the loads continues to move after the crane or boom has stopped. The motion caused when booming or swinging functions are started or stopped too rapidly.

41
Q

What happens to capacity, angle, and radius when you Boom Down?

A

Capacity decreases, Angle decreases, and Radius increases.

42
Q

What happens to Capacity, Angle, and Radius when you Boom Up?

A

Capacity increases, Angle increases, and Radius decreases

43
Q

What is Boom Angle?

A

The angle of the Boom to the ground or horizontal.

44
Q

What is Deflection?

A

Compressing the boom, slightly bending it when a load is applied to the crane without taking the slack out of pendants, hoist lines, or telescopic boom sections. The load will move away from the crane increasing radius and putting crew in danger.

45
Q

What is Dynamic Loading?

A

Happens when dynamic motion of the load dramatically increases the amount of stress applied to the crane. This affects stability and structural integrity.

46
Q

What is Dynamic Unloading?

A

Happens when the load is suddenly released. The sudden release can cause lose of backwards stability, structural damage, or collapse.

47
Q

What is Side Loading?

A

Lifting a load without the boom tip completely centered over the top of the load or rapid swinging or stopping of the swing. Side loading can cause structural damage especially when using a jib.

48
Q

What is the OSHA standards for Power Lines?

A

OSHA 1926.1407-1411

49
Q

What equipment needs to work when hosting personnel?

A
  • Boom Angle Indicator
  • Boom Hoist Limiting
  • Anti Two-Block
  • Controlled Load Lowering
50
Q

What degree of level does a personnel platform need to be regardless of Boom Angle?

A

10 degrees
