What is STIs
STIs spread through skin contact and bodily fluids. They may go unnoticed but can have serious health effects if untreated. Regular testing is essential for anyone who has had unprotected sex.
What is Chlamydia
Bacterial infection; often no symptoms. Tested with urine/swab; treated with antibiotics. Condoms help prevent it.
Herpes
Spread by skin contact; can cause sores/blisters. Managed with antivirals. Avoid sex during outbreaks and use condoms.
Genital Warts
Caused by HPV; small swellings or clusters. May disappear on their own; treatable with creams. Safe sex reduces risk.
Syphilis
Causes rashes, fever, etc.; treatable with penicillin. Condoms reduce risk if covering infected areas.
Gonorrhea
Causes burning urination, discharge. Diagnosed with urine/swab; treated with antibiotics. Use condoms to prevent.
Amphetamines
Synthetic stimulant affecting the central nervous system; known as “speed.”
Depressants
Drugs that slow brain-body messages; cause drowsiness and slow breathing (e.g., alcohol, benzodiazepines).
Hallucinogens
Alter perception, mood, and thinking; cause hallucinations (e.g., LSD, mushrooms).
Stimulants
Increase alertness and vital signs (e.g., caffeine, nicotine).
Psychedelics
Alter perceptions; can cause flashbacks and mood changes long-term.
Dissociatives
Cause detachment; can lead to neural toxicity over time.
Cannabinoids
Euphoria, relaxation; prolonged use linked to anxiety, mood disorders.
Opioids
Pain relief, relaxation; high risk of tolerance and organ damage.
Empathogens
Promote social bonding, but risk mood swings and dehydration; long-term use may affect mental health.

- Must be supervised
- Under-25s need 120 hours, including 20 at night
- Max speed 90km/h
- No phone use or blood alcohol
- L Plates displayed on front and back
Learner Progression
Start at 16, pass DKT for a learner’s license, log 120 around to attempt P1 at 17 and P2 after 12 months
