Energy pyramid
An energy pyramid is a graphic model of energy flow in a community. The different levels represent different groups of organisms that might compose a food chain. From the bottom up, they are as follows: producers-bring energy from non living sources into the community.
Food web
A food web(or food cycle) is a natural interconnection of food chains and a graphical representation (usually an image)of what-eats-what in an ecological community. Another name for food web is consumer-resource system.
Decomposer
An organism, especially a soil bacteria, fungus,or invertebrate, that decomposes organic material.
Coniferous
Belonging or pertaining to the confers.
Biome
a large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat, e.g., forest or tundra.
Deciduous
In the fields of horticulture and botany, the term deciduous means “falling off at maturity” and “tending to fall off”, in reference to trees and shrubs that seasonally shed leaves, usually in the autumn; to the shedding of petals, after flowering; and to the shedding of ripe fruit.
Consumer
Definition of consumer. : one that consumes: such as. a : one that utilizes economic goods Many consumers make purchases on the Internet. b : an organism requiring complex organic compounds for food which it obtains by preying on other organisms or by eating particles of organic matter — compare producer sense 3.
Ecology
Ecology (from Greek: οἶκος, “house”, or “environment”; -λογία, “study of”) is the branch of biology which studies the interactions among organisms and their environment. … Ecosystems are dynamically interacting systems of organisms, the communities they make up, and the non-living components of their environment.
Cycle
A cycle is a series of events that happen repeatedly in the same order. Or, it is a slang term for a bicycle. If you ride a cycle to work, we suggest putting your clothes through the wash cycle twice — or wear strong cologne. We get cycle from Latin cyclus and Greek kuklos, both meaning “circle.”
Nitrogen cycle
Definition of nitrogen cycle. : a continuous series of natural processes by which nitrogen passes successively from air to soil to organisms and back to air or soil involving principally nitrogen fixation, nitrification, decay, and denitrification.
Biotic facter
Biotic factors are the living components of an ecosystem. They are sorted into three groups: producers or autotrophs, consumers or heterotrophs, and decomposers or detritivores.
Water cycle
The water cycle, also known as the hydrological cycle or the hydrologic cycle, describes the continuous movement of water on, above and below the surface of the Earth. … In doing so, the water goes through different forms: liquid, solid (ice) and vapor.
Abiotic facter
In biology and ecology, abiotic components or abiotic factors are non-living chemical and physical parts of the environment that affect living organisms and the functioning of ecosystems. Abiotic factors and the phenomena associated with them underpin all biology.
Producer
A film producer is a person who oversees the production of a film. Either employed by a production company or working independently, producers plan and coordinate various aspects of film production, such as selecting the script; coordinating writing, directing, and editing; and arranging financing.
Carbon cycle
carbon cycle. n. The combined processes, including photosynthesis, decomposition, and respiration, by which carbon as a component of various compounds cycles between its major reservoirs-the atmosphere, oceans, and living organisms. carbon dioxide cycle.
