MANAGEMENT
1. Give sip of water or small ice
2 ask casualty to sit upright and avoid looking at the objects that are moving
3. Anti Emetic - Stugeron

Allergy
abnormal sensitivity and particular substance
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
- wheezing of breath
- rashes
- runny or itchy nose or sneezing
- itchy red water eyes
MANAGEMENT
- Offer anti allergy ; tidilor / claritin
- contact medlink if symptoms persist
- monitor for signs of anophylaxis
Anophylaxis
Severe allergic reaction
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
- swollen lips, tongue, face and eyes
- difficulty in breathing and talking
- blotchy, possibly itchy rash on face and body
MANAGEMENT
1. Assess
2. Reassure
3. assist to comfortable position and administer oxygen
4. contact medlink
5. if there’s history and has epipen encourage him to use it
APPENDICITIS
INFLAMMATORY OF APPENDIX
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
-severe pain radiating from center to the right lower quadrant of the abdomen
-fever
-vomiting / nausea
- loss of appetite
AUTISM
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
- difficulty in interacting with others
- communication difficulty
- isolating themselves
MANAGEMENT
1. ASK first
2. Listen carefully and engage in calm and undemanding social conversation
3. Allow time for them to respond
4. Divert their attention
DIARRHOEA
FREQUENT NEED TO HAVE A BOWEL MOVEMENT
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
- frequent urge to pass runny or watery faeces
- cramping abdominal pains
- fever
- dizziness or weakness if dehydrated
MANAGEMENT
1. Assess
2. Reassure and obtain history and vital signs
3. Ask ;
- what consumed recently
- if they have been in contact with anyone who had similar symtoms
4. advice to sip on clear fluids or ice chips
5 Give Anti Diarrhoea ; Imodium capsules
6. IF vomiting or nausea, anti emetic; stugeron tablet
7. relocate the casualty near the lavatory
8. contact medlink if no improvement
FOOD POISONING

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
- Nausea/Vomiting
- Abdominal Pain
- Diarrhoea
- Fever
MANAGEMENT
1. Give plenty of water
2. No Medication
3. Contact Medlink
FOOD POISONING
CONSUMPTION OF CONTAMINATED FOOD/ DRINKS
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
- Nausea/vomiting
- abdominal pain
- diarrhoea
- fever
MANAGEMENT
1. Assess
2. Reassure, obtain history and vital signs
3. Ask; last consumed
4. ask to sip a water or give small chip of ice
5. contact medlink

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
- Skin is flushed and extremely dry
- Excessive thirst
- Excessive urination
- Breath is sweet fruity acetone smell
MANAGEMENT
- Assess
-Reassure and obtain History and vital signs
-when was medication and food last consumed
- if blood sugar is high, give plenty of water and sugar free beverages
- Contact medlink
- if they have their own medication ask them to take it
Hypoglycemia
LOW BLOOD SUGAR
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
- extremely hungry and aggressive
- hands are shaking
- slurred speech
- onset is fast
MANAGEMENT
1. Assess
2. Reassure and obtain history and vital signs
3. when was medication and food last consumed
4. if blood sugar is low give orange juice with 2 sachet of sugar
5 if recovers give light meal or snack
6. Contact Medlink
INDIGESTION
CONSUMES TOO MUCH FOOD
INDIGESTION AND HEARTBURN
SYMPTOMS AND SIGNS
- discomfort in the upper abdomen
- belching or burping
- heartburn - burning feeling in the chest
- bloating and gas
possible nausea and vomiting
MANAGEMENT
1. Assess
2. Reassure, obtain history and vital signs
3. Ask ;
- what was consumed recently
- are they prone to indigestion or heartburn
- history of heart disease
4. administer oxygen
5. If indigestions are confirmed give Anti acid ; Rennie
6. Obtain AED but keep out of the casualty’s view
7. avoid consuming spicy, dairy, carbonated drink, coffee/ tea or alcohol
IRRATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
- hallucination or paranoid thoughts
- disoriented
- unusual, irrational or violent behaviour
- increased level of energy, activity or agitation
MANAGEMENT
1. Assess casualty, take history and reassure
2. Contact Medlink
3. Find out the cause ;
- recent consumption of medications
- history of diabetes
- inquire if casualty is carrying items like syringes or medication bottles
4. If hypoxia or difficulty in breathing administer oxygen
MANAGEMENT OF RENAL COLIC AND APPENDICITIS
- Assess
- reassure and obtain history or ask questions; location of pain
