How do you check the power-assisted steering is activated / working before starting journey?

A

If steering becomes heavy, system may not be working properly.

Before driving, make 2 simple checks:
- check by gently pressing the steering wheel while starting the engine. Should result in a slight but noticeable movement as the system begins to operate
- Alternatively, turning the wheel just after moving off will give immediate indication that power assisted steering is functioning.

The steering should feel lighter –> power assistance is functioning.
