Q

Explain how you would respond to the Q ‘tell me how you would check the power-assisted steering is working before starting a journey’

A

If the steering becomes heavy, the system may not be working propel. Before starting my journey 2 checks can be done.

Firstly I would put gentle pressure on the steering wheel while the engine is starting which should result in a slight but noticeable movement as the system begins to operate.

Alternatively, I would turn the steering wheel just after moving ogg which will give an immediate indication that the power assistance is working as it should.
