Show me how you would check that the directions indicators are working
Apply the hazard warning light switch, and walk around the car to check all the indicators are working
Show me how you would check that the brake lights are working on this car
Turn on the ignition (without starting engine), operate brake pedal and then ask someone to check if they are working
Show me how to open the bonnet
Pull the bonnet release hatch twice (bottom right on the drivers side), and lift the bonnet up
Identify where you would find the engine coolant and how you would check for levels
Top right of car, with black cap and yellow sticker on it (DO NOT TOUCH). Explain that the coolant levels are displayed inside
Identify where and how you would chrck the engine oil levels
Black pump with green sticker, bottom middle of car. Explain you would pull out dipstock, wipe clean and re-dip checking that the levels are between the max and min
Identify where the windscreen washer resorvoir is and tell me how you check the levels
Blue cap, bottom left of car. Fill it to the top, no max or min levels
Identify where brake fluid resevoir is and how you would check for levels
Explain that the levels are checked via the in car vehicle status service system
Explain how you would check the power assisted steerin is working before starting a journey
Start the engine, Apply gentle pressure on the steering wheel to feel the system begin to operate
Show me how you would check the parking brake/ handbrake for excessive wear
Secure the car using the footbrake, Relase and apply the handbrake so that it secures the car, and is not at the end of its working travel
Tell me how you make sure your head restraint is correctly adjusted so it provides the best protection in the event of a crash
The rigid part of the head restraint is at least as high as the eyes or top of your ears
Where would you find the information for the reccomended tyre pressures for this car and how can the pressures be check
In the vehicles handbook or on the inside of the drivers door. Use a reliable guage and check when the tyres are cold
Show me how you would check the horn is working
Turn ignition on, and gently press on the mini sign
Show me how you would clean the windscreen using the windscreen wipers and washers
Turn the igntion on, and pull the wiper stick towards you
Tell me how you would check all the headlights and tail lights are working without exiting the car
Explain that you would operate the light switch, and check that all the front and rear lights are working
Show me how you would set the demister controls to clear all the windows effectively, this includes both front and rear screens
Turn the igniton on and push MAX(just below the windscreen blowers) and push the rear heated windscreen button
Show me how you would turn on the rear fog light and explain when you would use it
Turn the ignition on and push the bottom left button to switch on the rear fog lights, an amber light will display on the dash. Explain that you would use it when visibility is less than 100 metres
Tell me how you would know if there is a problem with your anti lock brake system
Turn ignition on, if the ABS light stays on, there is a problem with it
Show me how you would switch the headlights from dipped to main beam and explain how you know when main beam is on
Turn ignition on, Turn the light switch all the way to the right, and push the indictaor stick away from you. A blue light should appear on your dash
Tell me how you would check the tyres to ensure that they have sufficient tread depth and that their general condition is safe to use on the road
There is no cuts or bulges, 1.6mm of tread depth, across the central 3/4 of the breadth of the tyre and around the entire outer circumference

Brakes should not feel spongy or slack. Brakes should be tested as you set off and when driving the vehicle should not pull to one side
