Show me/explain how you would check that the power-assisted steering is working before starting a journey
Before starting a journey check the steering by moving the steering left and right - the steering shouldn’t feel stiff.
Alternatively, turning the steering wheel just after moving off will give an immediate indication that the power assistance is functioning
Show me how you would check that the headlights and tail lights are working
Operate switch (turn on ignition if necessary), walk round vehicle
Show me how you would check that the direction indicators are working
Applying the hazard warning switch and walking around the vehicle to check functioning of all indicators
Show me how you would check that the horn is working (off-road only)
Check is carried out by using the control (turn on ignition if necessary)

Demo state by applying parking brake that when it is fully applied it secures itself, and is not at the end of the working travel

Operate switch (turn on dip headlights and ignition if necessary) check warning light is on. Explain when you would use fog lights. You must use fog lights when visibility is seriously reduced, to 100meter or less. Don’t use in any other circumstances because they can dazzle and distract other drivers
Show me how you switch your headlights from dipped to main beam and explain how you would know when main beam is in whilst inside the car
