Show I've Done My Research Flashcards
What I would be working on
3 Ph2 studies:
- 2 HBV (Hep B)
- 1 Remdesivir
1 study in start-up; 2 in maintenance
Pipeline: Emerging Virus (COVID)
Veklury® (remdesivir for injection)
- Outpatient COVID-19
- Ph3
Remdesivir inhaled form (GS-5734)
Outpatient COVID-19
- Ph1
Pipeline: HBV (Hepatitis B)
- Selgantolimod TLR-8 agonist (GS-9688)
- HBV cure research program
- Ph2
- agonist = a substance/chemical which initiates a physiological response when combined with a receptor - Oral PD-L1 small molecule (GS-4224)
- HBV cure research program
- Ph1
- small molecule = a low molecular weight (< 900 daltons) organic compound that may regulate a biological process
What is Hepatitis B?
An inflammatory liver condition caused by viral infection (virus) HBV (Hep B). Preventable by vaccine.
What is Hepatitis D?
Only occurs in ppl infected w/ HBV. HDV accelerates the progression of chronic HBV.
Can be acquired either simultaneously with HBV as a coinfection or as a superinfection in people who are already chronically infected with HBV.
Hepatocellular Carcinoma
The most common type of primary liver cancer. Hepatocellular carcinoma occurs most often in people with chronic liver diseases, such as cirrhosis caused by hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection.
Cirrhosis
Cirrhosis is a late stage of scarring (fibrosis) of the liver caused by many forms of liver diseases and conditions, such as hepatitis and chronic alcoholism. Each time your liver is injured — whether by disease, excessive alcohol consumption or another cause — it tries to repair itself.
