Shoulder/Upper Arm Flashcards
Deltoideus
O: clavicle, acromion process, spine of scapula
I: deltoid tuberosity
A: Anterior: flexion of shoulder, rotation inward of shoulder
Middle: ABduction of shoulder
Posterior: hyper extension, outward rotation of shoulder
Pectoralis Major
O: clavicle, sternum & costal cartilage
I: upper shaft of humorous
A: ADduction of humorous, inward rotation of humerous
Superaspinatus (enchilladas) (rotator cuff)
O: supraspinous fossa of scapula
I: greater tubercle of humerous
A: imitates the action of ABduction of shoulder
Infraspinatus
O: infraspinatus fossa of scapula
I: greater tubercle of humerous
A: outward rotation, prevents posterior dislocation of humerous
Teres Minor
O: lateral edge/border of scapula (where arm muscle is)
I: greater tubercle
A: outward rotation, weakly ADducts prevents upward dislocation
Subscapularis
O: subscapular fossa
I: lesser tubercle of humerous
A: inward rotation of humerous, help prevent upward dislocation (and stronger muscles like deltoids)
Teres Major (under armpit)
O: lower lateral border of scapula
I: bicipital groove
A: ADduction, extension from place of flexion (lifting arm up)
Arm:
biceps brachiii - Bi means two & Brach means a part/in the ARM
O: short head: top of coracoid process
long head: just superior to shoulder joint
I: arduous tuberosity, fascia between radius and ulma
A: flexion of the elbow, supination if forearm
Triceps Brachii : 3 heads
O: long: just below shoulder joint
lateral: upper posterior shaft of humerous
medial: lower posterior shaft of humerous
I: olecramon process of ulma
A: extension of elbow, stabilizes shoulder
Coracobrachialis (shaped like a beak)
O: coracoid process
I: mid shaft of humerous
A: ADduct humerous but mostly to stabilize it
Brachialis
O: lower shaft of humerous
I: coracoid process of ulma
A: flexion of elbow
Brachioradialis
O: lower anterior of humerous
I: lower lateral edge of radius styloid process
A: flexion of elbow, supination & pronation
Sternocleidomastodieus
sternum;;;;clavicle;;;;mastoid process
O: sternum, clavicle
I: mastoid process
A: both sides=flexion of cervical spine, raises sternum & ribs during deep inhalation ;;; one side: lateral flexion, rotation
