Shoulder instability Flashcards
What are the 3 groups in which shoulder complaints can be divided in?
- SAPS
- GH complaints
- other shoulder complaitns
What are the chances for suffering a GH complaint
16%
What does AMBRI stand for?
atraumatic multi- directional bilateral rehabilation inferior (in case of surgery)
Where does TUBS belong to in the Stanmore classification?
Polar type 1
What are common characteristics for AIOS?
- overhead throwers
- anterior instability
- posterior stiffness (GIRD)
Describe the Hammock principle by Ann Cools.
It is about the laxity in the anterior part of the capsule and the stiffness in the posterior part. This leads to a disbalance.
Describe the parachute analogy by Ann Cools.
–> often seen in throwers
Due to weakened RC muscles which should slow down the movement of the arm after throwing, the capsula has to slow the movement down instead and gets micro-tears (gets damaged)
Strenghtening of the back muscles and stretching is necessary.
Name 4 risk factors for reinjuring after TUBS.
- young age
- bakart’s lesion
- no immobilization after trauma
- high activity level
What are the factors for instability in AMBRI patients? (Jaggi)
- Hyperlaxity /structural deficiency
- Cuff & Deltoid insufficiency
- CNS
- PNS
- Kinetic chain /scapular dyskinesia
