Shoulder Girdle Flashcards
Deltoid
O: clavicle, acromion and spine of the scapula.
I: Deltoid tuberosity of the humerus.
N: Axillary nerve.
A: Shoulder abduction, flexion, and extension.
Pectoralis Major
O: Clavicular head-clavicle. Sternocostal head-sternum, superior 6 costal cartilages, the aponeurosis of the external obliques muscle.
I: Intertubercular groove of the humerus.
N: Lateral and medial pectoral nerves. Clavicular head-C5, C6. Sternocostal head-C7, C8, T1.
A: Adducts and medially rotates humerus, draws scapula anteriorly and inferiorly.
Latissimus Dorsi
O: T7-L5, thoracolumbar fascia, iliac crest, bottom 3 or 4 ribs, scapula
I: Intertubercular groove of humerus
N: Thoracodorsal nerve C6-C8
A: Adducts, extends, and internally rotates arm
Infraspinatus
O: Scapula (infraspinous fossa)
I: Humerus (greater tubercle)
N: Suprascapular nerve
A: Lateral rotation of arm, stabilization of humerus.
Teres minor
O: Lateral border of scapula
I: Greater tubercle of humerus
N: Axillary nerve (C5-C6)
A: laterally rotates arm, Adducts forearm, stabilizes humerus.
Teres major
O: Inferior angle of scapula
I: Intertubercular groove of humerus
N: Lower subscapular nerve (C6, C7)
A: Adducts, medially rotates, and extends arm.
Coracobrachialis
O: Coracoid process of scapula
I: Medial humerus
N: Musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6, and C7)
A: Adducts arm, flexes arm at glenohumeral joint
Subscapularis
O: Subscapular fossa
I: Lesser tubercle of humerus
N: Upper and lower subscapular nerves (C5, C6)
A: Rotates humerus medially, stabilizes shoulder
Supraspinatus
