Shoulder & Arm Flashcards
Actions of the Serratus Anterior?
Abduct & depress scap, hold scap against rib cage
What are the attachments of the serratus anterior?
Anterior surface of the medial border of the scap, upper 8 or 9 ribs
What are the 3 sections of the Pec Major?
Clavicular, Sternal, Costal.
What are the attachments of the Pec Major?
Clavicle, Sternum, costal cartilage of ribs 1-6, Crest Of The Greater Tubercle of Humerus
What are the actions of the Pec Major?
What do the upper fibers do?
What do the lower fibers do?
Adduct, medially rotate humerus
Upper fibers: flex, horizontal adduction humerus
Lower fibers: extend humerus
Where is the pec minor located?
Deep to the pec major
What symptoms can pec minor cause?
Forced thoracic outlet syndrome - heart attack like symptoms
Where does the pec minor attatch?
Ribs 3-5, coracoid process.
Actions of Pec Minor?
Depress & abduct scapula, with aerobic exercise helps elevate rib cage into inhalation
Where is the subclavius located?
Under the clavicle
What are the attachments of the subclavius?
1st rib, inferior middle 1/3 of clavicle
Action of subclavius?
Depress clavicle, elevate 1st rib, stabilize s/c jt
Attachments of biceps brachii
Short: coracoid process
Long: supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Tuberosity of radius & aponeurosis of biceps brachii
Actions of biceps
Flex shoulder, flex elbow & Supinate Forearm
What are the 3 things that attach to the coracoid process?
Bicep, pec minor, coracobrachialis
Attachments of Triceps brachii
Posterior humerus, infraglenoid tubercle of the scap & olecranon.
Actions of the triceps brachii
Extend elbow
Long: extend, adduct humerus
Coracobrachialis is located where?
Near axilla; medial arm
Attachments of coracobrachialis
Medial humerus, coracoid process
Actions of coracobrachialis
Flex, adduct humerus
What type of jt is sternoclavicular joint?
Diarthrotic - freely moving
The Acromioclavicular joint is created by the sternum and clavicle T/F ???
False
The glenohumeral joint is created by the humerus and scapula T/F ??
True
The brachial artery runs between the bicep and tricep brachi T/F ??
True
T/F??
The coracoid process is an attachment point for pectoralis Major
False
This muscle depresses the scapula and attaches to the coracoid process A. Pectoralis Major B. Serratus Anterior C. Triceps brachii D. Pectoralis Minor
D. Pectoralis Minor
Biceps brachii
A. Flexes the elbow and supinates the forearm, attaches to the coracoid process
B. Extends the shoulder
C. Pronates the forearm
A.
What does “Sits” stand for?
Supraspinatous, Infraspinatus, Teres Minor, Subscapularis.
Which rotator cuff muscle medially rotates the humerus?
Subscapularis
Which rotator cuff muscle laterally rotates the humerus
Infraspinatus
Which rotator cuff muscle abducts the humerus
Supraspinatus
What is the deltoids major action?
Shoulder abduction, flexion & extension
What muscle is a synergist to the deltoid?
Superspinatos, pec major
What is the action of the lats muscle?
Adduct & medially rotate humerus
