A

Inflammation and irritation of the rotator cuff tendons as they pass through the subacromial space. Results in pain, weakness and reduce range of motion (painful arc).

A

Pain can be worse at night and sometimes so painful shoulder is very difficult to move.

A

Hydrodilatation - saline, steroid and local anaesthetic injection.

What is a rotator cuff tear?

A

Tear within the tendons of the rotator cuff meaning it is not attached to the head of humerus.

Tears can be traumatic or degenerative.

What is the treatment for rotator cuff tears?

A

Acute - early surgery
Degenerative - surgery only if symptomatic.
Superior Capsular Reconstruction - only for massive, irreparable rotator cuff tears, it is a cadaveric skin graft to reconstruct capsule not tendon.
